Not all of us are high-flying celebrities or dot-com millionaires who can afford to hop onto their private jets whenever the mood strikes them and be somewhere across the world by the next morning.

These countries, though offer all the excitement and adventure you want from a holiday, but at a price that won’t blow the budget. These are the best destinations to go to for an affordable, tropical holiday.

Corfu, Greece

Corfu is a Greek island found in the Ionian Sea, the second largest island in the Ionian Sea. The place is steeped in folklore and mythology and has been a favored tourist destination for the rich and famous for decades.

Even though Corfu is known as the playground for celebrities and royalty, it is still relatively cheap. With the many hotels and holiday packages available, it isn’t difficult to find an all-inclusive package that suits your budget and needs.

There is no shortage of things to do in Corfu. Eat at one of the many restaurants, explore the ancient buildings, laze on one of the beaches, or party the night away in Kavos.

Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is an unincorporated island nation that is part of the United States. Puerto Rico is an archipelago within the Great Antilles. Puerto Rico is the biggest of the islands, but there are also the isles of Mona, Culebra, Vieques.

Known for its incredible beaches and crystal clear water, Puerto Rico has been a favorite holiday destination for Americans for many years. Recently, many foreigners have been visiting the country as the cheap cost of living makes the trip very affordable.

There may be a number of rainy days in Puerto Rico, but the brilliant average temperature makes this a destination that can be visited year round, without the risk of having it spoiled by the inclement weather.

Phuket, Thailand

Phuket is Thailand’s largest island and has been a firm favorite amongst tourists for ages. The incredible beaches, the delicious food, the very cheap shopping, and the bustling nightlife.

Even though Thailand’s typical rainy season is from May to October, the temperatures still stay relatively low. The weather, in general, is always suited for tourists as the temperatures stay up, and you can make every day an adventure day.

With its many beaches, temples, cultural attractions, and food, Thailand has always been a very cheap, but very exciting holiday destination. If Phuket isn’t for you, Thailand has many other cities and towns for you to get lost in.

Jamaica

Jamaica, located in the Caribbean, with Kingston as its capital, and also the home to the world famous “second” city, Montego Bay. Montego Bay has the reputation as one of the best tourist spots in the Caribbean.

Jamaica is definitely known for being a very inexpensive holiday destination, with many tourists from the United States and Great Britain flocking to the island nation every year. The almost perfect weather and sandy white beaches make it an obvious choice.

Even though the island is incredibly popular, there are still many places that are secluded and a bit quieter if you are wanting a more romantic holiday. And on the other end of the spectrum, it’s is very family friendly and has activities for all ages.

Cancun, Mexico

Cancun is known as the Spring Break destination of choice for young Americans, but not many people know that it is also a very well priced, family-friendly holiday destination. The temperate climate and beautiful beaches make this a tropical paradise you need to experience at least once.

Take a trip to the beautiful beaches that have the softest sand and warm, bright, clear water that is absolutely ideal for swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. Travel to the sites of some ancient Mayan ruins and take in the history of the area.

Cancun is also party central for Central America, and you can dance the night away at one of the many clubs and beach bars, and then spend the next day taking in the sun and sights on one of the majestic beaches.

Vietnam

Over the past 20 years or so, Vietnam has become an incredibly popular tourist destination. Due to immense private and state investment across the country, particularly on the coast, the country has seen a drastic rise in tourism, and we can definitely see why.

Steeped in history ranging from Vietnamese royalty, the tragic Indochina and Vietnam wars, and the immense cultural and religious importance many areas have, Vietnam is a melting pot waiting to be explored.

Being on the coast, Vietnam consists of many small towns waiting to be found that will offer you the perfect taste of Vietnam culture, food, and the people. Once again, Vietnam is incredibly cheap, and there won’t be much that is too expensive.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is an island nation off the coast of India in South-East Asia. It has not been a well-known tourist destination, but recently, many people have discovered the history and beauty of this small island.

Sri Lanka is home to a very diverse mix of cultures, languages, and religions. The two most popular religions are Buddhism and Hinduism. These religious beliefs have influenced the look and feel of the country, and have developed some exquisite structures.

Being a small country that is still developing, Sri Lanka is incredibly cheap to visit. There are hotels that are being built and developed every year due to the increasing demands of the tourism industry, making this a little slice of heaven that not many outside of Sri Lanka have found.
