Travelling to the Rocky Mountains is something everyone should do at least once in their lifetime. Seeing the young mountain range jut out from the earth after flying over the plains from the east, or the desert of the west is a sight to behold for anyone. We wanted to take some time to point out a few unique ways you could travel to the Rocky Mountains.

private jet

Take a Private Jet to Mountain Town

Flying in a private jet from the Denver area to a mountain town is an amazing experience to get away from all of the humdrum of life. As long as you hire the private jet charter company you will feel the personalized touch and luxury aspects of the process before you set foot on your plane.

Most providers have private terminals, concierge services, and other luxury amenities throughout your trip. Experience the grandiosity of the Rocky Mountains with those closest to you within the comfort of a private jet. With so many ski resorts a short flight from the Denver area, you’d be remiss to not at least give it a shot once.

jeep

Rent a Jeep

Colorado and Jeeps go together like peanut butter and jelly. You can rent a jeep from an outfitter in town if you are looking for a more rugged experience, or from the airport for more of a base model version.

Keep in mind, Jeeps have a code and you’ll find yourself getting strange looks if you don’t give a wave to fellow Jeep drivers. Whether you are looking to stick to pavement and take trail ridge road, or do a little off-road driving, Colorado is sure to have something absolutely awe-inspiring to fit the bill.

Enlist a Limousine Service

Limousine services, much like the private jet option above, are a luxury offering and you will pay a little more for these services than the other options. This increased cost comes with increased amenities as well.

Most limousine services will handle your entire itinerary from the airport to your lodging, and back. These services include much of the same amenities the private jet will as it is a customized service for your needs. If you need an SUV to take a few more people, a quality chauffeur service will have a fleet of options for you to choose from.

Take a Shuttle

A more cost-effective alternative to a customized limousine service would be to take a shared shuttle service up to the mountains. There are many companies in town that provide shuttle services to various mountain resorts in all seasons of the year.

While you won’t have the personalized and individual service as a limousine would provide, this option will cost you far less. If you have a group big enough, you could have a shuttle to your group alone. Be sure to take a hard look at reviews and the process involved with these options as there are some providers who have established themselves as premier offerings with a lot of trust.

Take a Train

Lastly, you can take a train up to the mountains. The Georgetown loop is close to town and allows you to travel through the mountains in an old steam engine train. This is a great experience for adults and youngsters alike as it feels quite vintage. If a little more elevation is in your plans, you could take the Winter Park Express from Denver’s Union Station.

This truly feels like you are heading west from a cultural hub out into some pretty intense wilderness areas before stopping at Winter Park, CO. If you are looking for an easy and memorable way to make it up to the mountains, this may be your best option.
