It may be one of the less conventional 4th of July vacations to choose from, but Yosemite National Park gets booked up quickly over Independence Day. It offers a relaxed experience without the usual firework displays, but that’s not to say your holiday here will be completely void of entertainment.

Two of the nearby hotels and lodges offer massive barbeques to satisfy your appetite for hamburgers, corn on the cob, and other traditional 4th of July fare. Once you’ve had your share of pie and puddings, spend the rest of the afternoon winding down and watching some of the wildlife.

Instead of the usual fireworks, the California night sky boasts a light show of a different nature. Far away from the harsh city lights, cosmic clusters of stars form a sparkling canopy overhead while you stargaze from the comfort of your campsite. Yosemite offers a July 4th getaway that will leave you feeling refreshed like no other place.
